Set in 1920 at the dawn of Prohibition, BOARDWALK EMPIRE chronicles the life and times of Nucky Thompson, the undisputed leader of Atlantic City, who is equal parts politician and gangster. Starring Steve Buscemi as Nucky, the series also stars Michael Pitt, Kelly Macdonald, Michael Shannon, Michael Stuhlbarg, Michael Kenneth Williams, Dabney Coleman and Gretchen Mol, among others. BOARDWALK EMPIRE was created by Terence Winter (The Sopranos) who also serves as executive producer along with Martin Scorsese (who directed the pilot episode), Stephen Levinson, Mark Wahlberg and Tim Van Patten.
